"I can't, but we can!"
I thrive on connecting with others and fostering a sense of community. I see myself as a natural problem-solver, adept at navigating challenges. I can identify a problem and work towards solutions that are fair and beneficial for everyone involved. My diplomatic approach and clear communication skills allow me to bridge divides and reach agreements. Furthermore, my strong sense of integrity ensures fairness and understanding in all my interactions.
I will work with the administration to move the city forward. But not by selling out our community. I am here to serve the people of Wilmington's Eastside and Northeast neighborhoods, for what they need and to improve quality of life.
I believe housing is the common denominator to creating a strong and healthy community. By ensuring access to affordable housing, we provide a stable foundation for individuals and families to thrive. We must include tenant and landlord accountability into the equation. Early intervention programs can address challenges before they lead to larger issues. Youth programming should be geared towards the needs of at-risk youth. Reducing exposure to the criminal justice system is of critical importance.
By providing support systems and opportunities, we will help people avoid involvement in the justice system in the first place, and for those already in contact with it, we will focus on rehabilitation and reducing recidivism. Advocacy for important social needs is crucial, and job training and work opportunities empower residents to become self-sufficient and contribute positively to the community. Through engagement, and fostering positive change we will create thriving neighborhoods

Protecting Children, Empowering Tenants, and Building a Brighter Future.
My Achievements:

Safeguarding Our Children's Health
I've championed childhood lead prevention, tirelessly raising awareness about the dangers of lead paint in older housing and advocating for resources to make our community lead-safe. This includes ensuring access to lead testing for families to protect their children from this devastating health threat.
Empowering Tenants and Building a Stable Future
As a passionate tenant rights advocate, I've fought for fair housing practices by ensuring tenants have a strong voice. Additionally, I've been a vocal advocate for affordable housing, working to create a community where everyone can find a safe and decent place to call home. This could involve connecting them with financial literacy programs, down payment assistance resources, or navigating the homebuying process.
Being a landlord, I recognize the value of homeownership. I help my tenants, and other community members find a path that would lead to homeownership. When irresponsible, absentee landlords rent to disruptive tenants, and are neglectful of their properties this has a detrimental impact on existing homeowners’ quality of life. I help the homeowners learn how to contact the landlords, use the legal recourse available to them, including creating a documented paper trail that can be used by L&I, and other relevant agencies. In doing so, this holds the landlords accountable. We want to increase rental registrations with significant penalties for those who don't. And also encourage rental liability insurance. Landlord accountability and transparency is key.

A Catalyst for Change
My commitment to tenant rights went beyond advocacy.
I created the innovative "Ask the Landlord Project" a tenant literacy program.
This project empowers tenants with knowledge about their rights and responsibilities, ultimately contributing to, and resulting in the successful passage of the "Tenants Right to Representation" legislation. This law significantly improves the balance of power between tenants and landlords, ensuring fairer outcomes for all.

These achievements demonstrate my dedication to creating a healthier, more just, and secure community for everyone. By prioritizing children's health, empowering tenants, and promoting homeownership, I'm working to build a brighter future for all our residents.
I will work to Establish an Office of Environmental justice for the city.
This will provide an opportunity to pursue various under-utilized funding sources to address the health and environmental issues that plague our city.
We can begin to address the contaminated soil, water and air.
This will decrease the infant mortality and morbidity rates, and improve the health and quality of life not just for the district, but for the entire city.
The funding this office can obtain can also be used to identify and address the root causes of such issues.
We will organize the community by creating block committees. This would encourage neighbors to get to know each other, interact, and create a sense of community.
This will build a positive force of change.
We need to educate seniors about programs available like tax abatement, and additional Medicare benefits.
Fostering a senior mentorship program would be a tremendous asset for our community. A place where seniors can share lived experiences and interact with younger community members. This would also serve to provide a purpose for seniors and retired professionals/executives.
